The ExAct FD-20 family of products represents a new generation of flame detectors. The aim was to develop a flame detector which functions quickly and reliably even in the most difficult environments.

So far, the ExAct FD-20 product family consists of two different optical flame detectors:

The optical flame detector ExAct FD-20 is designed for use in areas where open flaming fires may be expected. The optical flame detector ExAct FD-20 Fast, on the other hand, provides protection against sudden, explosive fires: the detector responds to a fire immediately at the first sight of a flame.

The ExAct FD-20 flame detectors are sensitive to infrared radiation emitted by flames during combustion. The detectors are insensitive to solar radiation and to thermal radiation emitted by hot objects.

The detectors have been designed in a way that they can be installed in potentially explosive environments according to the ATEX directive. Both detector versions are ATEX approved for installation in zone 0. A very high ATEX classification enables protection of demanding applications. Both the detectors comply with the following category:

By responding to 2200 and 2800nm IR emissions from fires, the ExAct FD-20 flame detectors detect most types of flames. The devices also detect gas or liquid fires not visible to the naked eye, such as hydrogen or methanol fires.

The ExAct FD-20 flame detectors are compatible with most conventional fire detection loops. The detector can replace most of the already installed flame detectors.
